With the Apple A12X already looking like a good competitor for mobile Intel Core i5 and i7 chips, the signs are good for Apple's smooth transition to further vertical integration in Mac computers. When the Mac Pro launched in 2019, its closest competitor was the 18-Core Intel Xeon W in the iMac Pro, which paled in benchmark comparisons (13,453 versus 26,604 in Geekbench multi-core. Bloomberg sources indicated a similar strategic move earlier this year.
